We All Play a Part

The We All Play a Part campaign is a initiative highlighting the importance of a strong performing arts sector for Australia in the 21st Century.

This national advocacy campaign was launched in April 2008 by the Australian Major Performing Arts Group, in association with Live Performance Australia and the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance, and its campaign partners.

On this website you will find information on current broad-based campaigns and issues, including who is doing what on a number of fronts and how you can be involved. We also provide resource material and links to other relevant agencies and campaigns.

As audiences, performers, students, teachers, backstage crew or volunteers, we all play a part in Australia’s performing arts industry.

Each year, nearly 16 million admissions are issued to concerts, theatre, opera, musicals and dance performances in venues in the cities, suburbs and country towns around the country. But the performing arts is not just about enjoying the show.

Research indicates that the performing arts plays an important role in contributing skills to our workforce, improves our kids’ education, boosts the economy and builds stronger communities.

From the local community hall to world stage, Australia’s performing arts industry is helping to nurture brilliant Aussie talent and foster national pride. Australian Major Performing Arts Group and its partners believe it is important that the significant contribution of the performing arts is recognised and supported by all Australians.

We can all play a part to campaign for a stronger performing arts industry and its future success.

Play a part in whatever way you can. Whether it be at you local school, interacting with teachers and other parents by encouraging an arts rich curriculum or at local government events, advocating support with your local representatives on the value of the arts in building community.

Maybe you frequent opening nights or have access to industry leaders or business boardrooms. At every level, in a myriad of contexts and situations, we need your support.
